Binding Authority

​RSUI’s Binding Authority unit is a package-driven contract market with competitive rates and broad statements of authority for core E&S classes. Through a select group of MGAs, we can offer coverage for small to medium size commercial risks in all 50 states. Coverage is available for General Liability, Property, Inland Marine, Liquor Liability and limited Professional Liability.


General Liability

General Liability is offered within MGA authority for over 700 classes, with an additional 250 classes available on a referral basis. While new products are being developed regularly based on market opportunities, the target product groups are:

Property is offered through an exclusive, tailored rating structure, with the ability to offer catastrophe wind coverage in coastal areas. Offering capacity to accommodate most binding authority risks, RSUI targets the following occupancy types:

The authority granted in RSUI’s online Underwriting Manual is able to accommodate the vast majority of small commercial risks without RSUI underwriter involvement. Additional highlights of the RSUI Binding Authority department include: Rating and Policy Issuance systems built on a web-services platform, allowing for seamless integration into MGA management systems; Rules-based policy auditing system, connecting to individual producers so there is immediate resolution if policies are issued outside of guidelines to manage underwriting inaccuracies;Search feature embedded in the RSUI Underwriting Manual used by most MGAs as a training tool for identifying and properly classifying risks; Published underwriting position papers on a number of complex risk categories;​​ On-demand training and product information videos offered to MGAs on a variety of topics via secured extranet portal.

Management:

Clint Nokes | Senior Vice President, Binding Authority Manager

Clint Nokes serves as Binding Authority Department Manager of RSUI Group. Clint joined the firm in 2008 as a Senior Underwriter and was promoted to his current position of Senior Vice President in 2010. Prior to joining RSUI, Clint held production and management positions at Atlanta-based wholesaler broker, Insurance House, Inc.

Clint has actively served on various surplus lines association committees since 1998 and was recognized in 2010 with the NAPSLO Past President’s Award for outstanding committee service. Clint has been an instructor at the NAPSLO E&S School and guest panelist for NAPSLO and AAMGA conventions.

Clint holds a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and was a recipient of the prestigious NAPSLO Internship in 1997.

Clint resides in Alpharetta, Georgia with his wife Alison and daughters, Ella and Reagan.
